Hi Esther! I have …
Hi Esther! I have recently been starting up yoga and follow many of your videos but I fear I pushed myself too hard too soon and found this video a little too late. It seems I have injured my knee and I was wondering if you had or could recommend any certain stretches or positions for an injured/strained knee? Also, do you think it would be safe for me to still practice your yoga for upper body strength and yoga for core/abs while my knee heals? I hate not working out each day :/

I just had knee …
I just had knee surgery (torn meniscus repaired). I am a bit frightened to press on the femur and tibia to open the knee as you demonstrate at the beginning of the video. What precautions should I take — and how much pressure are you using?

Thank you , that is …
Thank you , that is a beautiful compliment. Remember indeed yoga is for every body, and the benefits are not dependent on how flexible you are, they are there for everybody who practices it and moves their body in that way. Enjoy the process!

I just love how you …
I just love how you go into such detail Esther. I am new to yoga and not very flexible but you make me feel like that is okay, all in good time :0) I have to admit that sometimes I give up because I feel so inferior to others who are so flexible, but your videos keep me motivated and give me hope. Whenever I feel like throwing in the towel I watch one of your videos and I am truly inspired. Thank you so much for all your guidance, it’s much appreciated!

Thank you for this …
Thank you for this video! I have chondromalacia grade 3. I realize this means permanent damage, but I have recently come to yoga to help me restructure and heal my body. That said, I’ve been having a challenging time figuring what muscles to activate and how to approach certain poses that will help stabilize my knee and do no harm.
I have the most difficulty with poses that require me to put weight directly on my knee (kneeling). Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you very much …
Thank you very much for the video Esther.. very very helpful..

You also might not …
You also might not heal the same if you injure yourself too badly. Sometimes once we injure a part of our body it is never 100% again. Don’t take that chance!

Shins in, thighs …
Shins in, thighs out, lift toes to engage the calves…Eureka! I can balance like never before in standing head to knee! Finally I can start building some strength into my wobbly knee. So grateful for this advice Ester. Namaste

Make sure you take …
Make sure you take enough oils in your diet, like omega 3/6 ask your health food shop for advice. Find a good physical therapist / yoga therapist / acupuncturist / osteopath, whatever you feel comfortable with to see live to help you heal the restriction the old injury left you with.
Hope this helps!

Hi, It is hard to …
Hi, It is hard to say where the tightness comes from, maybe from your hips, or the connection between hips and thigh bone. The thighbone needs to press back into the back of the legs to be securely connected in the hip socket. Impossible to give you good advice from a distance. When in butterfly don’t force the knee down ever, even support it to ease that area.
January 10th, 2013 at 1:09 am
Never ever force …
you just make your body scared, it won’t trust you anymore and completely lock up on you.
Never ever force yourself into a pose, no good comes of it
January 10th, 2013 at 1:09 am
If I force myself …
If I force myself into poses will that speed up the process of becoming more flexible? Sure I might injure myself or pull my muscle but once it heals won’t it be more flexible there for speeding up the stretching process?

You look very lovely Esther.
